(Warning I an NOT an expert) - You are trying to get tomcat server running
Red5. __If__ you are just trying to get Red5 working then suggest instead
that you use the more common 'built as one' version - go to
http://code.google.com/p/red5/
and download the appropriate 0-9RC1 release (both the exe install and the
zip work fine). and install that as there is no WAR for 0.9 yet so you must
be istalling 0.8 or something older. If you do that the addresses are
http://localhost:5080
http://localhost:5080/installer/
and that works fine (well it has for me in the few days since I installed
it)
To answer your actual question. - I have seen this when the server is
already running and there is a conflict. in the port (as you are a windows
user download tcpview as it will show you what is runnig on what port.)

What you say is true but as the hard working Red5 guys are not yet at version
1.0 it is to be expected.
You are on windows (that is what you screen shot showed) so why not
download 0.9 RC1 as I suggested and run the .exe installer?

There really isn't much to say. it uses ports 5080 and 1935, they need to be
free. You start it (they provide batch files) and that is that.
Of course you need the standard JAVA (jre) is ok for the pre built RC1.
http://localhost:5080
and read the bits about 'installing' the demos and play the video (which I
gues you have allready done).
THEN the fun part starts as you can join the rest of us figguring out how to
build our own client side app. Have fun

Hello,
Installing Red5 on Windows is not a big deal. I have been using Red5 since
ver 6.X . Now I am using Red5 v8. It works fine on Windows XP, Windows 2003
Server, Windows 2008!!!. I had no problems.
Just Install the installer and change red5.properties to adjust your port
settings. And If you want to use rtmpt, you have to modify a xml file.
The Only Change noticed in Red5 v8 and v9 RC1 is that applications are
installed on-demand. Applications have to be downloaded seperately. If you
are using a proxy, then you may not suceed. THIS problem is addressed
differently. I made my own repository by downloading application from the
svn.

Have you actually succeed in installing? Waht do you get when you view
http://localhost:5080/ or http://localhost:/. It seems you have
accessed index.html by clicking the html file. Try accessing it like
http://localhost:/installer
First check that. Installing packages on the internet will take some time.
Check 'Show Debug Message' to see what is happening.

As ddprasad says you have succesfully got it up and running. The server
side "apps" that do the demos need to be downloaded to work.. The screen
that never stops.
What you are seening is the client side .swf running but without the
"downloaded" server side app nothing will work.
There is nothing to configure (as I understand it) you just have to get
(wait for) the oflademo to load. There it will allways be on your "server"
to use.

Listen ,
It is a long process but I advise you to do it:-
Goto to this URL: http://red5.googlecode.com/svn/snapshots/
STEP ONE
1. create a folder under webapps/root/applns
2. Download everything (or OflaDemo wars)
3. Put the downloaded ones in the applns directory
STEP TWO
There is a file in webapps/installer/WEB-INF/red5-web.properties
Open it using a NotePad/Write
Change this line
application.repository.url=http://red5.googlecode.com/svn/snapshots/
to
application.repository.url=http://localhost:5080/applns/
Now Restart your Red5 again
STEP THREE
Access http://localhost:5080/installer/
Now you will be able to see you OflaDemo Packages only(from you server
itself)
Just Install now!!
If you want other packages as well, download everything and put them applns
folder
Regards!

Yes your long list shows the installer CORRECTLY getting the list of things
(server apps) to install. NOW select one (e.g oflademo) like you did before
and click install. :)
Me I just whish I could get the apps to build :(

I have known this problem when other instances of the server are running.
get tcpview from MS and see if any java apps are running tcp/ip kill them
(with that tool) if they are.
I assume you are starting the server with red5-debug.bat

(I am no expert) but I can see that there is a wonderful post above from
-ddprasad- that tells you how to put all the apps local to you so they will
instantly install.
it is the right thing to do. As for wirting apps I cannot help you (wish I
could)
Below is ddprasad's post ---- you need to follow it.

Roger
------------------------------------------------
Listen ,
It is a long process but I advise you to do it:-
Goto to this URL: http://red5.googlecode.com/svn/snapshots/
STEP ONE
1. create a folder under webapps/root/applns
2. Download everything (or OflaDemo wars)
3. Put the downloaded ones in the applns directory
STEP TWO
There is a file in webapps/installer/WEB-INF/red5-web.properties
Open it using a NotePad/Write
Change this line
application.repository.url=http://red5.googlecode.com/svn/snapshots/
to
application.repository.url=http://localhost:5080/applns/
Now Restart your Red5 again
STEP THREE
Access http://localhost:5080/installer/
Now you will be able to see you OflaDemo Packages only(from you server
itself)
Just Install now!!
If you want other packages as well, download everything and put them applns
folder
Regards!

Good.
One last thing,
Check for your firewall setting. Is it blocking RTMP. Just try disabling it
and then restart the Red5 server.
If it doesnt work,
STEP ONE
Change your port settings of red5 to 80
How?
Answer: In the conf directory of your red5 folder, there is a file
red5.properties
Make the following changes
# HTTP
http.host=0.0.0.0 ---> Leave as it is
http.port=5080 ---> Change 5080 to 80
https.port=8443 ---> Change 8443 to 443
STEP TWO
There is a file in webapps/installer/WEB-INF/red5-web.properties
Open it using a NotePad/Write
Change this line
application.repository.url=http://localhost:5080/applns/
to
application.repository.url=http://localhost/applns/
Before that, ensure that your machine does have any other webserver running
on 80 PORT
Now Restart your Red5.

Hello,
Why don't you try the whole process in a clean system.
Try installing in Windows XP/2003 Server
I cannot help you further today as I am not in good mood! See you tomorrow!
Have you tired using Red5 0.8.0 final. I have tested in two different OSs
and two different version.
Thanks & Regards.

http://www.red5.org/downloads/0_8/setup-Red5-0.8.0.exe
http://www.red5.org/downloads/0_9/setup-Red5-0.9.RC1.exe
Both are based on (tomcat and red5)

Please correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I understood, if you are
running Red5 server as a standalone process it has bundled Jetty engine,
similar to Tomcat, that acts up as a webservier for Red5, you just need to
deploy your applications under webapps folder.
The server uses port 1935 for RTMP as default and 5080 for HTTP navigation.
You can always change those settings on the proper configuration files.
Hope that helps,
Ernani

Red5-0.8.0.exe & Red5-0.9.RC1.exe come bundled with Tomcat. So you need not
require any extra packages.
ok?
Just install and njoi programming!!

I believe Tomcat is a sevlet engine with HTTP service to be dedicated to
Servlet and JSP rendering, one and only.
It is more than recommended for someone willing to host a production client
application, that is targeted to attend a broad set of users, to extend
Tomcat with Apache 2 using mod_jk.
That way, Apache will handle all of the static context, with better
multi-threading performance, and forward servlet / jsp / rtmp specific
contents to Tomcat itself, which will have its more than enough load to work
with.
I would even say that I would dedicate a specific Tomcat instance for RMTP
protocol and if needed some other kind of Servlet Processing, to make
another instance of Tomcat or JBoss, depending on the kind of architecture
one is going to address.
I believe though for the regular usage, Tomcat can do the job using Jetty as
HTTP provider, but for a production like application, IMHO I would not go
with that as a single solution.
Kind Regards,
Ernani

Kind Regards,
Ernani

Works so far, but no monitoring on the output.
Recording button asks for permission on the camera and mike, stop recording
does it job.
Tested something, see if it went through.
